2C visit London

Year 2 had an exciting day visiting London on Wednesday 8th May.
 

 We saw many famous London Landmarks such as St. Pauls Cathedral, the Shard and Pudding Lane! 

 The hardest but most fun part of our day was climbing 311 steps up to the monument.

 Our legs were so wobbly when we came back down!

 

Then it was time for us to take the underground train back home.

 

 

Aliens come to Fairlop!!

Breaking News - Year 2 classrooms invaded by aliens!

On Tuesday 15th January 2013, Fairlop School received an unexpected visit from aliens. After some initial hysteria, Year 2 did some investigating to work out where these creatures had come from and what they were doing in our school. Year 2 spent the day hunting high and low for their slimy friends and imagining what it might be like to live on another planet.

Christmas Mashcams

We have been working really well in ICT this term.  Using our navigational skills, we have learned how to import and insert a picture into our work.  Today with Miss Crosby we made some great mashcams for Christmas!  See what you think?

We have also been using our Fronter accounts, and know that we can make more mashcams at home using the Purplemash activities - there are games, themes and lots of homework to save online.  See what other mashcams you can find!

Year 2 had a brilliant time on the Pirate Day. We all dressed up as pirates and even the teachers joined in! We went on a treasure hunt on the field. We set sail on the seven seas and learnt about jobs that pirates have to do like climbing the rigging and scrubbing the decks. Next we searched the school looking for buried treasure and had to travel through lots of obstacles on the map. We followed the clues and found Blackbeard's treasure which we are keeping safe for him until he returns.

Dinosaur Day!

1M have been learning all about dinosaurs in class at the moment. Our topic is called 'The Land before time'. We are also writing stories about dinosaurs and have read a poem called 'Dinsoarumpus'!
We had a dinosaur day which was great fun! We went on a dinosaur hunt and we even found some dinosaur eggs!!

Recently we had book week and on the last day we had to dress up as a book character. Take a look at just some of our fantastic outfits!:

 

 

 

1M visit the Museum of Childhood

On Tuesday 10th January, 1M travelled to Bethnal Green in London by tube train to the Museum of Childhood. We were all so very excited about our journey on the train, it was fun!

When we arrived at the museum we couldn't wait to go in to see all the toys that were there.
We were allowed to play with some of the toys, our favourites were the big rocking horse, the giant robot and dressing up. We also went into some sensory pods!!

We had a fantastic day at the museum.

 

     

What's happening in 1M?

The Christmas Production has been a big focus recently. Year 1 are performing a dance in the production and we have been practising hard! We have also been learning lots of new songs for the christmas play and practsing the actions for them. We do not have any pictures to show yet as we do not want to spoil the surprise!!!

We have also been using Numicon in Maths which has been a big success, they have been exploring the different shapes and making Numicon number lines. Students have been making patterns and identifiying the different shapes for numbers to 10. We also had some help from our Year 6 students in class.
